"The key is under the third slate on the left of the gate. Don't rush — the kettle's already out."
🥾 Coastal Path Start
12 min walk · 0.4 miles
"Bear left at the second stile — the right path looks more worn but adds 40 minutes. The left route gives you the best headland view."
🍺 The Anchor Inn
8 min walk · 0.3 miles
"Tuesday pie night is worth planning around. Sit by the fire on the left — it's the one that actually draws properly. The landlord knows the tides."
🌊 Trevannick Cove
28 min walk · 1.1 miles
"Only accessible at low tide. Check the tide table on the fridge before you set out — I've left a laminated copy. Worth every minute."

Where the evening starts
The Sitting Room
Stone walls that have held heat since 1742. The woodburner takes five minutes to get roaring — kindling and logs are in the basket by the door, and there's always a box of matches on the mantle. Two deep sofas face each other across a slate hearth. No television. Just fire, books, and the sound of the wind finding the gaps.
Insider note"Light the fire before you unpack. By the time you've carried the bags upstairs, it'll be throwing heat."
- Original 18th-century flagstone floor
- Woodburner with back boiler
- Curated book shelf, no WiFi password required
- South-facing window seat
Packed lunches and late breakfasts
The Kitchen
A proper working kitchen — not a showroom. The table seats five at a push. There's a range cooker that takes a moment to understand, a coffee grinder, and a drawer full of Ordnance Survey maps for the coastal path. Guests have left recipes on the noticeboard for twelve years. Add yours.
Insider note"The baker in the village opens at 7am on weekends. Sourdough sells out by 8:30. Set an alarm."
- Range cooker (gas), 4 rings
- Full larder: oils, spices, the basics
- OS maps for South West Coast Path
- Dishwasher, washer/dryer
Both bedrooms hear the sea
The Main Bedroom
A king-size bed under a low beamed ceiling. Crack the window and you'll hear the sea before you see it — that low, rhythmic pull that makes you sleep longer than you planned. The room faces east, which means the light arrives early and gentle. Blackout curtains for those who need them.
Insider note"Leave the window cracked. The sound of the sea at 3am is worth the slight chill."
- King-size bed, linen sheets
- Sea view, east-facing
- Both windows hear the ocean
- Blackout curtains available
Where the dog runs first
The Garden & Terrace
Half a acre of walled garden, enclosed on three sides by old stone. A wooden table and four chairs on the terrace, a hammock between the apple trees, and a gate at the far end that opens onto the footpath. The garden faces south. On a clear evening you can see the lighthouse from the bench by the wall.
Insider note"The bench by the far wall catches the last twenty minutes of evening sun. Worth keeping to yourself."
- Half-acre walled garden
- South-facing terrace
- Hammock between apple trees
- Gate to coastal footpath
Guest Voices
Heard from those who've stayed.
We left our phones in the kitchen drawer for three days.
We arrived on a Thursday evening, lit the fire, and didn't check our phones until Sunday morning. The walk to the cove on Saturday — we had it entirely to ourselves. I've been recommending this place to everyone who'll listen.
